Canada Skilled Trades Immigration for Electricians
Last updated
What This Pathway Is and What You Get
The Federal Skilled Trades Program lets electricians and other tradespeople apply for permanent residence in Canada based on their trade experience. You do not need a university degree to qualify, only real hands-on work in your trade. Once approved, you and your family can live and work anywhere in Canada outside the province of Quebec. Canada also holds trade-specific invitation rounds, which can sometimes lead to an invitation faster than a general round.
Who It Is For
This pathway is for electricians with at least two years of full-time trade experience within the last five years. You also need either a job offer of at least one year from a Canadian employer, or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian province or territory. You must pass an approved English or French language test at the required level. If you don't yet have a job offer or a Canadian certificate of qualification, getting one of these should be your first goal.
How to Start
Step 1: Confirm your trade work experience matches an eligible electrical occupation. Step 2: Take an approved English or French language test and meet the required score. Step 3: Get a job offer from a Canadian employer, or apply for a certificate of qualification in your trade. Step 4: Show you have enough money to settle in Canada, unless you already have a valid job offer. Step 5: Create your Express Entry profile and wait for an invitation to apply. Keeping every document ready before you start can make the whole process go faster.
